Encorus Group is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Senior Business Development Specialist to drive and develop new business across Western NY, Greater Rochester, and Upstate New York.

In this hybrid role, you’ll have the flexibility to be based in Rochester, Syracuse, or Buffalo, with time spent meeting clients, attending industry events, and building relationships throughout the region.

Working directly with Encorus leadership and our technical teams, you’ll use your industry knowledge and connections to uncover new opportunities, bring in business, and expand our presence across New York. We’re looking for someone who wants to do more than maintain relationships; they want to help grow a company and make a lasting impact on its future.

Responsibilities:
  • Leverage your existing industry network to identify and develop new opportunities, build relationships with key decision-makers, and position Encorus early in the project development process.
  • Represent Encorus at regional and national industry events to expand our visibility and develop new relationships.
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans for our Inspection & Testing groups, with a focus on growing both public and private sector work.
  • Identify upcoming projects, capital investments, expansions, and other market opportunities where Encorus’ technical expertise can provide value.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with owners, engineers, contractors, and facility managers,
  • Partner with technical and operations leaders to qualify opportunities, develop pursuit strategies, and respond to client needs.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the Upstate New York market, including industry trends, competitors, upcoming projects, and emerging opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in business development or sales within an industrial, construction, engineering, inspection, testing, or environmental sector.
  • An established network of industry contacts and a demonstrated ability to turn relationships into business opportunities.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems for managing client relationships, tracking leads, and maintaining accurate records of business development activities.
  • Proven success developing business within private industry, particularly in markets such as manufacturing, chemical processing, power, renewable energy, data centers, or other industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of the market and an understanding of how industrial and commercial projects are developed and awarded.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to have credible conversations with both technical professionals and executive-level decision-makers.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • A self-directed, entrepreneurial approach to business development with the ability to work independently and collaborate closely with technical teams.
  • A valid driver's license, along with the ability to travel locally and occasionally out of state.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% for client meetings, conferences, trade shows, networking events, and project-related activities.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
