Are you a student interested in environmental science, industrial hygiene, or regulated building materials, looking to gain hands-on field experience? Join Encorus Group as a Part-Time Environmental Technician Intern within our Regulated Building Materials team in West Seneca, NY.
As an Environment Technician Intern, you won’t just observe—you’ll actively assist with field investigations, sample collection, project monitoring, and reporting. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working both in the field and in the office while building practical skills that support a future career in environmental consulting or industrial hygiene.
Responsibilities
• Assist with inspections for hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, heavy metals, and other regulated materials.
• Perform project monitoring and air sampling for asbestos, lead, mold, heavy metals, and other contaminants.
• Conduct clearance inspections to assess project completeness.
• Assist with indoor air quality investigations, radon testing, mold testing, water sampling, and industrial hygiene sampling.
• Collect bulk samples of suspected hazardous materials for laboratory analysis.
• Assess the condition of materials and accurately record and report findings.
• Provide complete and accurate documentation and paperwork to the Project Manager for review.
• Occasionally assist with general administrative duties within the laboratory and office.
• Support special projects and additional assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications
• 0–1+ years of related experience (internship or entry-level experience encouraged).
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current Asbestos Inspector certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification within three (3) months.
• Current Asbestos Project Monitor / Air Sampling Technician Certification preferred, recently expired certification eligible for refresher, or ability to obtain NYS certification training.
• Ability to perform independent field work at various projects and construction sites.
• Reliable transportation with proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated project team.
• Ability to comply with company drug screening, including pre-employment screening and OSHA-required physical.
• Ability to pass criminal and motor vehicle background checks in accordance with client requirements.
Pay Range
